I have many good memories of Ballarat; the ones captured here are mostly around the wildlife. Every morning the parrots would wake in the morning, circling the campus and forming up into huge, noisy flocks that would set off into the Victorian countryside; at the end of the day, they'd come back and roost en masse in the trees.

Everywhere you went there were clouds of butterflies around your ankles, flitting about like a flock of benign sandflies.

I ran with kangaroos on the Running BOF and, one morning, wandered around the campus bush blocks and found a wild echidna, something the locals tell me is an experience most Aussies won't have.
