Inghams has what must be among the more disturbing threads of advertising on New Zealand TV: the collection of mutilated women. The current ad is the woman who twists her head the wrong way while doing yoga, but with the help of Inghams, she still serves dinner!
The previous ad was the woman whose arm gets sliced off by her lightsaber-wielding son; she looks at him mock-cross (it’s so adorable when they slice your arm off!), but thanks to Inghams, she trundles out a dinner for the whole family!
I don’t think you need to be overly-sensitive to find the theme of the series a little creepy.
And while I’m at the feeling-grumpy-about-ads it does strike me as a little quaint that the advertising running for Western Australia features the “real Australia” of the majestic outback without a single Aboriginal face. Real Australia is apparently white Australia.
