There are no direct flights between Canberra and Wellington, which seems a little odd; on the way through Brisbane we caught the edge of a cyclone, our plane getting out just in time from an airport full of people who had been waiting hours and in some cases days for a window to get to their original destinations. The inconvenience was put in perspective when we landed in Canberra and discovered there had been deaths around Queensland - a delay is a pretty petty concern by comparison.

Canberra was full of good food, albeit with the inconvenince of many restaurants who refuse to split bills.

The wildlife was nowhere near as spectacular as Ballarat, with Canberra's larger scale and ANU's position solidly within it making it less likely to see exotica.
